Become a volunteer today.

Do you have 1 hour to give a fortnight?

That’s all it takes to support an older person by becoming a volunteer visitor.

This can have a positive impact for both the older person and the volunteer.

The Aged Care Volunteers Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) matches older people with a volunteer for a regular catch up and aims to improve quality of life for the aged care residential or home care recipients participating in the scheme.

This is a free service for older people matched with volunteers, participating aged care facilities and people who donate their time to volunteer. ACVVS is funded by the Australian Government.

Find out how it works, how to become a volunteer and how to request a visit.

What does this program offer?

  • This program matches participants with older Australians who may feel alone, may be experiencing difficulty with movement, and support them to reduce feelings of stress.
  • ACVVS finds and matches participants with older people.

What does a visit involve?

Show More Show Less

A volunteer visitor will visit older Australians for a minimum of one (1) hour per fortnight to provide direct social support.

Social connection may vary from person to person and look like having a cup of coffee or tea and a chat with an older person, or participating in social activities or attending a local community event.
